God knows we had met enough times over the past few years!
He
already knew of my frustrations from brushes with me on my visits.
This was about the time they had just put
their plans and policies online and to be honest for a local Government effort they had done a great job. The site
was really easy to navigate and I told him there and then how impressed we were with their new site and how it was
already saving us time.
‘Certainly saved us a lot of time, its cut our
preliminary enquiries right down’. He said.
‘I bet it has, all we need now is a measuring tool so we can measure sites online too and we won’t have to
contact you at all’ was my reply.
His Next Words Were Music
to my Ears! . .
‘It’s already out there. Great website which
measures any land area and linked with Google maps. It’s really handy. Off the record some of us use it in the

I
think my chin must have hit the floor at that point.
Sure enough Monday morning came and he emailed
me the link. The tool worked perfectly. Halleluiah! This was as important to us as the invention of the

I played around with it like a kid in a sweet shop! I could measure around the perimeter of a site in a few clicks
but the only problem was you had to choose an area and scroll down from the whole of the world and there was no
postcode search facility then, (although thanks to internet evolution we have since discovered a new measuring tool

....but that didn’t matter at the time. I
finally had a tool which completed the new system. Just plug in some local information and hey presto!.. No
more hit and miss relying on anybody else ever again.
I Was
Walking On Air All Week Long!
The next week was probably the most exciting
week of my life.
I
now had the measuring tool I needed and that week I put the final touches to complete the whole system.
I
